DAILY
ITINERARY
Day 1
Moshi
Upon arrival you will be transferred to Mountain Inn at Moshi for dinner
and a pre-trek briefing. Overnight at lodge.

2
Moshi Machame Camp (3000m)
After breakfast, transfer to Machame Park Gates where our mountain guide
and porters await us. After registering at the park gates, begin trekking
through lush forest. A 5-6 hour trek brings us to our first campsite.

3
Machame Camp Shira Camp (3800m)
This morning we leave the forest behind as we ascend through heather and
open moorland. After about five hours, we reach the Shira Plateau where
our porters have set up camp near the Shira Cave.

4
Shira Camp Barranco Camp (3900m)
This is an important acclimatization day which follows the Shira plateau
up and around the Lava Tower before descending through a beautiful valley
to our camp at Barranco. Our walking time is 5-6 hours.

5
Barranco Camp Barafu Camp (4600 m)
Continuing east from Barranco we ascend the Barranco wall, a non-technical
ascent of some 300 m. We continue trekking across the high altitude desert
to Barafu camp where we will rest prior to making our summit attempt.

6
Barafu Camp Uhuru Peak (5895m) Mweka Camp (3100m)
Our ascent begins in the early hours of the day to enable us to arrive at
Stella Point shortly after dawn. The route winds its way up the gravel trail
to the far right of Rebmann Glacier arriving at Stella Point (5795m) on
the rim of the crater after 5 - 6 hours. From here it is another hour to
Uhuru Peak. From here, the only way is down, retracing our steps to Barafu
Camp. From here we continue to descend to Mweka Camp.
Day
7
Mweka Camp Moshi (900m)
A straight forward descent (10 km) to the park gates at Mweka where we say
good-bye to our porters and guide. From here we transfer by road back to
Moshi for a well deserved shower and rest. Dinner and overnight at lodge.
Day
8
Moshi
After breakfast, transfer back to the airport or shuttle to Arusha/Nairobi.

Climate:
Although
it is close to the equator, Kilimanjaro can be a cold place especially at
night. Daytime temperatures are moderate but cooler as you gain elevation.
(About 22 C at lower levels dropping to 10 C at higher levels). Nighttime
temperatures can be well below freezing (-5 to 10 C).
What's Included: Airport
transfer from Kilimanjaro airport (or shuttle from Nairobi or Arusha), accommodation
at lodge before and after trek including dinner and breakfast. Fully outfitted
trek with guide, porters, tent and other camping equipment, all meals while
on trek, transfers to and from park gates, all park fees including mountain
rescue fee.
What's Not Included: Sleeping
bag, thermarest and personal gear (most items can be rented locally), personal
first aid kit, beverages, laundry service and other items of a personal
nature, tips, insurance and airfares and airport departure taxes, Tanzania
Visa.
