Discover Burgundy

One of our most popular trips, this trip is a combination of terrific walking and gourmet delights. Flanked by the rivers of the Saone and the Loire, Burgundy is a quiet, farming region of rolling hills, huge forests and of course, world famous vineyards. Hike from cellar to cellar, inn to inn, castle to castle, as you visit the home of Chablis, Beaune, Nuits St. George and other famous 'spirits'. Your nose is your guide, on this fabulously enjoyable walk for wine enthusiasts!

Burgundy's greatest period was during the 15th century when its wealth was the envy of Europe. Much of the art and architecture from that period survives today. Beaune is the centre of the Burgundy wine industry, at the heart of a cluster of prestigious vineyards such as the Cote d'Or, Cote de Beaune and Cote de Nuits. The local cuisine also offers memorable gastronomic experiences. A great trip for food and wine buffs, with walking that is gentle to moderate and an itinerary that reads more like a wine list. Burgundy's natural riches and its rich history bear testimony to its fine heritage. It is a beautiful and fertile land where farmers', foresters' and above all wine growers' skills have nurtured the landscape for a thousand years. This is a multi-faceted landscape just waiting to be explored, and, as ever, the best way to savour it is on foot. Travelers will discover a fabled land of medieval chateaux, ancient monasteries and fragrant breezes where the art of living is pursued to near perfection at a gentle unhurried pace.
