Ring of Kerry - Ireland

Irelands quality is its people - a welcoming and truly enjoyable aspect of walking the famous Ring of Kerry. The slow paced, relaxed rural lifestyle, where social contact is prioritized over the hectic pace of modern day lives is a delightful contrast to our own. Ireland has some of the most beautiful scenery in the world - and an abundance of relics from its medieval and prehistoric past. Ravaged directly by the Atlantic, the west coast is enhanced by a special quality of light all of its own: sunshine and showers are accompanied by spectacular rainbows - and dominated by changing skies, the feeling of wide open space is ever present. The beautiful south of Ireland and the Ring of Kerry are truly one of the greatest places to walk in the world.

There is an unpretentious simplicity about Ireland and its people which is a delight to the visitor - especially the walker. The love of conversation, the unhurried pace of country life, and the tradition of hospitality and interest in the stranger ensures you a warm welcome. Following the old droving tracks and coach roads of the Iveragh peninsular; our route along the celebrated Ring of Kerry, so much part of a visit to Killarney, takes in the very best walking along coast and hills between the beautiful island-studded bays of Dingle and Kenmare. Just behind the coast, the trail follows narrow lanes through leafy woods and around tumbles of moss-covered rocks. As the route links coastal villages, we cross tiny bridges over babbling streams, and pass miniature churches. There are glimpses, between the hills, of glistening lakes, waterfalls, and inlets. Our tour starts in Killarney where we walk through the National Park, taking in the Torc waterfall, before ascending through ancient oak woods to the upper lake and the mountain passes of Kenmare. From Caherciveen, the end of our walk, we transfer back to Killarney past Ireland's highest mountain range, Macgillycuddy's Reeks.
